Pan-Am Rooftop Casino
NY, NY
15,000 sf new construction
Construction Budget - $7,200,000
1983, unbuilt

Following the closing of the heliport and the prospect of legalized gambling in NYC, a visionary developer commissioned the design of a casino/nightclub/restaurant to be located on the roof of the Pan-Am building. The project received a Progressive Architecture Award for its bold and innovative design. The "floating" glass sphere is intended to complete a vertical composition of three primary geometric shapes, by adding the circle to the existing triangle and square, formed by the roof of the Helmsley Hotel and the top section of the Pan-Am building.
